President's Message

Do you ever go to our Zenfolio Event galleries and see what photos your fellow members have?  If not you should.  I am always surprised at the different perspective each photographer brings to an event.  I always get ideas for my own photography when I look at other members' photos and see what they saw that I missed.  It's also interesting to see how they composed or cropped their shots.  I learn when I'm at an event or on a field trip and someone points out a shot I didn't see, or when I see them taking a photo from a different perspective.  As photographers we all see the world a little differently and its great to learn from each other.  

My thanks to those who've helped out at events this month.  We've had lots of thanks and compliments for our photos from organizations such as the Woman's Club and the Oviedo Historical Society.  We have a lot of events coming up in the month of December and I hope to see every one of you taking photos at an event.

City Hall Gallery Deadline Extended -  December 2

THEME FOR THE NEXT CITY HALL SUBMISSIONS

Oviedo Heroes

The deadline for submissions has been extended to  
Saturday, December 2, 2017.

Your photographs should be of firefighters, police officers, veterans, active duty military, or anyone action as a local hero.

Photos must have been taken after November 21, 2015.

Each photographer can submit up to 5 photos.  If you would like to enter photos please email the club for access to a drop folder.  


The 2017 3rd Triannual - Digital competition is now in progress! Please submit your images now, at https://f3c.org/competition/enter/

The deadline for uploading entries is Thursday, November 30, 2017.

The Oviedo Photo Club belongs to the Florida camera club Council (FCCC or F3C).  F3C is made up of nearly 50 camera clubs from across Florida.  
  
We don't have competitions or critiques at our meetings so this is a way to have independent judges review and score your work.  There are three print and three digital competitions each year.  You may enter up to four images per competition and there are four categories.  There is a $10.00 entry fee per competition and if you choose to enter the print competition you will pay the postage to get them to the judges.  Please check out their website for additional information about the competitions.

The party will be held at a member's home in Oviedo on Monday, December 4th from 6 - 10:00 pm.    

There will be a separate mailing later this month to members with more details.  You must RSVP to receive the address and directions.  We will have a lot of door prizes to give away including gift certificates and more.  We will have a gift exchange ($10 - $15) for those who wish to participate.  You may bring a guest. Members attending are asked to bring a dish to share, the club will provide water, tea, soda and coffee.

We will be going to dinner at Black Hammock Fish Camp and then practice star photography and other interesting night photography at a private home very close to the restaurant.  There will be a new moon so it will be dark enough to see and photograph the stars.


2018 Membership Renewal
 
2018 memberships are due by January 15, 2018.

To renew your membership for 2018, you can go to our website and use the PayPal button or pay in January at our meeting.   Everyone will need to fill out a new application form, so the Club will have up to date information. We will have forms at the January Meeting.

If you joined after October 1, 2017, you membership expires December 31, 2018.

City of Oviedo
Call for Photos for New Website

A new website is under development by the City of Oviedo and they have asked the club to take photos in Oviedo to feature in a slideshow on the home page.  Possible subjects include city government buildings, city parks, and other historic buildings and structures.  Photos can be color or monochrome but they should not have any HDR or photoshop "effects" applied.  Minor exposure adjustments and minimal cropping will be allowed.  Only current members of the Oviedo Photo Club may submit images for consideration.  More detailed submission guidelines are available to members.  Published photos will be credited to the Oviedo Photo Club.

You can see photos taken at our Volunteer Events in Oviedo, our Field Trips and many other locations by our members in our photo galleries on ZENFOLIO.COM. 
In addition to selling photography equipment and hobby supplies, they also hold in-store photo classes, including Basic Digital SLR Class and How To Use Your Point & Shoot Camera.  Classes are being held Fridays and Saturdays.  Call them for more information and to register.

Show your club spirit by adding our club logo to your shirts, hats or bags.  You can order shirts and other items in several styles and colors from Atticus Printing or bring in something you already have and they can embroider the club logo on it for a small fee.
